This old battleship is either Schleswig-Holstein or Schlesien (They were used as Schulschiff or Flakschiff) , but I cannot identify them from the picture...

      Haruki:

Wow! That was fast. Thanks. The amount of information here is incredible.

Thanks for the admiral ID and the possible ship ID too. By narrowing it down to two, I hopefully can figure it out.

      Thanks so much!

Not lange at all. He was a very skinny man.

I think it was Wilhelm Meendsen-Bohlken, OB Deutsche Marine Italy. Look at his KVK 1st class.

        Cheers

Thanks for the vector. I will surely pursue the Meendsen-Bohlken path too. Hopfully, I'll be able to nail it down.

          Thanks!

            Oops!

Elwyn is right, I had forgotten Meendsen-Bohlken.
The picture must have been taken after 31 July 1944 that he became Flottenchef
as they are saluting with the stretched-out arm on the Linienschiff.

Here is another photo of Meendsen-Bohlken for comparison.

Thanks guys. Much help! I've updated the archive file. Thank you.

Haruki: Do you think the ship is still either Schleswig-Holstein or Schlesien ?

                Thanks!

                  Hi Joe,

Yes, it is definitely German Linienschiff (pre Dreadnought battleship).

Attached picture is the Schleswig-Holstein taken at January 1943.
