I recenly went through a box of paper items given to me by a neighbor and found 4 German letters from the same person and wanted to look up the feldpost number to see if I could what unit this person was from.
The letters are all from May 1943 - Nov 1943 and the Feldpost number on two of them appears to be "L 49778"
The other two have stamps with no numbers and I really can't make out what they say at this point and may need to scan/post them on here for the experts to decipher.
On a side note, where would one look these numbers up themselves outside of a forum such as this?
