Ertzats

Does Ertzats mean field made? Is this a way of describing an award document that has been completly typed as opposed to one that was printed and then typed?

Or, am I way off on this one?

"Ersatz" means replacement or substitution.

Award document copies usually say "Zweitschrift" or "Abschrift" for a duplicate or replacement.

What have you got that says "Ersatz" on it?

Thanks for your response. I don't actually have anything with "Ertats" on it. I have, however, seen documents advertised as "Ertzats" and I was always curious as to what that actually means. I was thinking that it was a name given to typed documents. I have a Nahkampfspange doc that is typed rather than printed. I assume typed documents are either field produced or created when the usual template (the fill-in type) was not available. How do people generally refer to these two different types of docs?
