    U-Boat Clasp Award Doc

Just thought I'd share my latest acquisition, just arrived from Jamie Cross. The guy in question was a career sailor, served first as a Warrant Officer then as IWO on U-Boats. Was on U-94 and U-967 and shortly before the end of the war became commander of U-4714, though this latter boat, a type XXIII, never saw combat action.

Oh yes, and I have in front of me the U-Boat Führungsbuch that was referred to in the latest post about Jamie in the main forum. One of the nicest, best-filled-in examples of these I've seen.

        Hello Gordon,

I wish you as much pleasure with the book as I had! Nice to know it found a happy owner.

PS: what is your area of collection regarding KM?

        Best regards,

        Maurice

          Hi Maurice,

My main areas of interest in the KM are in U-Boat related items, KM cap ribbons , award documents and Soldbücher. I have a full set of Schwerin War Badges, but don't go into collecting maker variants etc any more so I'm happy with the badges I've got.
I have the ribbons for all the big ships (Bismarck & Tirpitz ribbons never existed), Scharnhorst, Gneisenau, Scheer, Graf Spee, Deutschland, Hipper, Blücher, Prinz Eugen etc and am now working my way through the Destroyers.

Stijn, lovely photo. I am collecting material for a book on U-Boat uniforms/insignia/awards etc for Bender Publishing. Would it be possible to feature this photo ?

Michel, Thanks. Hey, I believe we have a mutual friend. Lewis Connachie visits France often and tells me he knows you. Small world!

          Best regards

          Gordon

                Hello Gordon,

Yes the world is small, Lewis and Kate like France, and it's always a pleasure to meeting them.

I met them in the museum of my friend Denis certainly one of most beautiful of France on the WWII, ask Lewis.

I'm happy to learn that you will publish a book on the U-boots, if I can help you ...

A date of publication is envisaged ?

                Best Regards,

                Michel
