Copy of Easy Company 506th ABN Scrapbook

I was watching this auction on a copy of a Easy Company 506th Airborne Vets scrapbook that went for over $1200....nice photos but it clearly states the scrapbook is a copy...I wonder how many more of them will show up!!

That's quite a lucrative business. If the buyer is a bit of a commercial type I guess he could make a lot of money too. Or would it be illegal to sell a copy from a copy?

I wonder what the original will "make".

        Hi

By copy, I am assuming the family has his original negatives and have reprinted them for the scrap book or from a set of reprints from the past.

        Cheers

          Hi Karl,

The auction clearly states it is a copy of William Wingetts scrapbook that the family put together.

Here is a reply from the seller......"This is a copy of the original scrapbook that was produced by the family of the soldier in the scrapbook".

So plainly it is a copy of the original scrapbook.

I'm just wondering how many copies will show up....especially if it fetches...$1200

Some years ago the Wingett family decided to make copies of the scrapbook they put togther during the war. These copies were then made available (sold) to collectors and anyone else who wanted one. I don't remember the price and they made a very limited number of copies (maybe 100).

Not wishing to descend into an argument over the word copy, but my question, if you can call it that, was asking about how the copy was made.

              Cheers

I wander how many people did not carefully read the description but looked at the photos and thought it was the original?

                  Karl,

I provided the link and I'm sure the seller would provide an answer to your question if you ask him directly.

Well that is possible but I suspect some folks might have been looking at it in the perpective as originally coming from the family (ignoring the word copy)....regardless it's proof that people will still pay alot of money for copy photos....especially for photos of a member of Easy Company 506th Airborne due to the HBO series and Book by Steven Ambrose.

Looks like you might have a crystal ball there.

                        Karl,

At least that copy went for a much more reasonable price expected for copies. The seller says the original owners copied each page (not each photo) so what you are paying for is just a high resolution copy of each page of the entire album. So it appears that we will see alot more of these being flogged off on ebay. I don't believe the story of limited copies and it appears the first buyer got caught up in the ebay bidding fever because he paid way too much for it. Thanks for sending - Bill
