Not to infiltrate this marvellous photo thread, but the history behind this poster has an interesting historical value when it comes to Stalingrad:
This is a propaganda poster made by the NS press here in Norway. They expected the Germans to win the battle of Stalingrad, and the poster says “Stalingrad has been taken!”. But after the German defeat the posters were maculated – only a few of them survived. This is how it would have looked like if history had taken another turn...Attached Files

Hi Guys,
Can anyone provide any photos of GONCHAR or GONCHARY a couple km from stalingrad and let me know what was going on there in sept. My wifes grandfather was apparently killed there in the 369. Croatian legion. I have done a little research on my own and it looks like theres an airport now built over the area. Would they have built over the german graves?
Best,
PeteLast edited by pete; 08-15-2007, 02:42 PM.

Soviet twin-engine aircraft over Stalingrad. February 1, 1943
Recently I was doing some archival research for an client relate to visual (aerial) proof of German POW’s being march of Stalingrad and I came across this photo of Soviet twin-engine aircraft (Petlyakov Pe-2 ?) over Stalingrad on February 1, 1943. You can see Mamayev Kurgan and the “Tennis racket” rail area on the east side of the photos. (Right)

For those of you interested in Stalingrad, I thought I'd let you know that many of the images that have appeared in this thread - including most of my own - have been used in my newest book called "Angriff: The German Attack on Stalingrad in Photos". This thread is not the place for commercial advertisements, so if you're interested, please send me a PM or go to my website (http://www.leapinghorseman.com.au).
One of my favourite Stalingrad images (General von Wietersheim, Kdr.Gen. XIV. Panzerkorps looking up into the sky at Luftwaffe bombers heading for Stalingrad on 23 August 1942) was used on the front cover (see below).
All the best,
Jason

"Nov. Stalingrad 1942"
The person who is on the photos is KIA in Stalingrad.
He was KIA in November 1942 (in Stalingrad, same month as the photos were taken)
I know his comrade called him "Dalfi Gröger", Dalfi probably from Adolf, I also have photos from them in France.
Regards
