Hi Rove - that sure is a wonderful find. Do you know anything about the old veteran who parted with this treasure trove of photos? It always surprises me that none of the relatives, i.e., sons, daughters, grandchildren, etc., seem to want these valuable memorabilia. Most families pass these these things down from one generation to the next as part of the family historical collection. Did this old fellow not leave any surviving family members?
all of these pics and album are from his son.
the son and his father couldnt come together, they dont like each other.
they had no contact as i know. now (year ago) the veteran died and the son cleans the appartment. i still hope to get the certificates and soldbuch
(hope my english is good enough to explain)
at the first time with the two technic albums he tried to sell them on market. i got them.
now the second time when he found the rest he contacted me by telephon. i told him to do so when he found something else of his father.
hello larry
its simply and its sad

Hi Rove,
Yes, that is sad. But I think that happens quite often in families. It is truly too bad that the father and son could not reconcile during the last few years or months of the father's life.
Your English is quite good, Rove, so you need not be concerned with that. Remember: the vast majority here on Wehrmacht Awards do not even read German much less write it or speak it!
Your KC man (actually eichenlaub man ) is GenMj Guenther Hoffman Schoenborn. Not a commander of StugBr 666 but StugBr191. But he was Kmdr of StugSchule Burg
wonderful and rare collection !
fantastic to see it landing in the right hands, would be dreadful to see this collection being chopped.
congradulations !
Ian
