Info about LW bomber ace HERMANN HOGEBACK

    Hi folks,

I found a good picture for sale in the Internet of a highly decorated bomber crew. The seller say that the comander is Hauptmann Herman Hogeback, Junkers Ju88 pilot from the KG 6.

I´m interested on the picture, but I´d like to know a little bit more about this officer, mainly detail of his carreer, campaings, etc.

Regards and thanks in advance for any tip.

    Douglas.

He was the 125th recipient of the RK with Swords on 26-1-45 as Oberstleutnant and Kommodore of K.G. 6.

Das Waren die Deutschen Kampfflieger-Asse by Brutting has an eight page bio about him.

    Kind regards,
    Rick

      Hermann Hogeback RKT

Hi Douglas, Hermann Hogeback flew over 100 missions in the Spanish civil war earnng him the Gold Spanienkreuz mit Schwerten. 1940, flew 60 missions against England serving in LG 1, 1941 combat missions against Malta and over Afrika. 1942 missions in the Krim area and Stalingrad. June 1943 Kommodore KG 6 against England and later from Foggia. 1944 action against England and the Invasionsfront. Total of 585 combat missions.
His Ritterkreuz award details are as follws:
Ritterkreuz 08-09-1941 as Oberleutnant and Staffelkapitain 9.(K)/LG 1
Eichenlaub (nr 192) 19-02-1943 as Hauptmann Kdr III./Lehr Geschwader 1
Schwerter (nr 125) 26-01-1945 as Oberstleutnant, Kommodore KG 6.
Hogeback also had the (possibly ) unique position of having an entire flight crew as Ritterkreuztrager, Gunther Glasner, Willi Lehnert and Willi Dipberger. I hope to of been of some use.
      Regards Richard.
Always looking for Luftwaffe Kampfflieger related document groups. In particular anything to Kampfgeschwader 2.
