Interesting diary or fantasy piece ?

Spotted this on ebay but would like to hear any opinions. Hard to prove without any provenance i know but who can say.

Like you said yourself, no provenance.
Difficult to say if it is fake or not, but if it is real, what a piece.
But I'am not giving any sugestions on his authenticity.

Just a thought, if you are seriously wounded, and you are writing your last words in a diary, should that not leave any blood stains?

I'm not sure what to think of this. I couldn't find any matching entries in the Volksbund list of casualties.

Even without any provenance the calender book is rare in itself. This is only the third GD one I've seen.WR Jim

No record in the Volksbund list as Tim says but i can see this going for a high price later tonight.

Ever been wounded yourself Tim?
I have been several times; on the worksite not in war conditions that true. But you always w'll try to stop it bleeding, and blood comes on your hands believe me.
Then you don't wash your hands to write your last words, do you.
Commen-sence!!!

How many kia items do you have in your collection Tim or have even held in your hands?

it all seems just too dramatic to be genuine.

I hold strong doubts as to the authenticity and I think that most people would.

It sold for only 56 pounds..

Why own something that most people will doubt is real. You will always be questioning it within your mind.

I'am with you. This evening I gave it some thought.
Kia items are things I realy like but this is like you said to dramatic.
Also to clean,...etc
If I have doubts about an item the doubts only get bigger the longer I look at an item very seldom the doubts get smaller or disapear compleet.

In my line of duty I've seen enough wounded people(stabbed, shot, burned, losing body-parts, etc.) to tell you you're wrong. Not everybody has the same reaction towards wounds.

Just felt like the thing to write on the momment.


You have a point about the wounded people issue.
But I tried every time to stop the bleeding, that is my expierence with wounds (I had one stab wound in my arm).
With your experiences with people who are very seriously wounded on their foot (deadly in this case) are the capable of writing something in a diary with clean hands in a combat cituation?
This is ofcours in theory because I don't think it is original.

I don't think a wounded soldier has clean hands. If it is not his one blood on his hands it must be dirt.
When I did my military service and during field practic me an my friends had dirty hands, I think that is normal also.
I collect kia items they are very seldom clean, but I must admit I have seen clean ones also.

Paul, I would like to see better scans when you have the book available. I thought about going for it and sometimes you have to take a chance. Yes, it might be fake but on the other hand who at the moment can definately say its not real. If it is you,ve got a nice piece of history. As for the Volksbund list, maybe this guy was wounded but did not die. Its not unusual for people with serious wounds to think they are dieing. Just my thoughts.
