    Small Krimschild group

Thought I'd post this, after looking at the other thread with the von Manstein sig. Although the Krim Urkunde isn't hand signed (as Simon mentioned, I've not seen one yet), the EK2 is hand-signed, although a bit before vM became a Feldmarschall.
    Anyhoo, here's the pics.

Unless it was nighttime, or the weather was bad, and you were running out of gas - then it was a sweaty nightmare, like a monkey f*ing a skunk.

closeup of von M's sig. I figure his kids were visiting, as it appears he used a colored pencil.

Last and certainly not least, the Krim Urkunde. All 4 urkunden within a year. Unfortunately, no other docs/pics/info.

Nice lot Hank, judging by the award of the silver WB for just one wound, your man got the first 3 all together for the same action or actions that resulted in his wounding. He should also have qualified for the Ostfront medal but perhaps the paperwork simply didn't catch up with him.

Makes you wonder why this humble unteroffizier had his EKII awarded and signed by the army commander rather than the divisional or either corps commander? Was it just an automatic EKII for a severe wound or did he do something that brought him to the attention of the higher ups?
