What Uniform is this Rottenführer wearing?

Original deathcard from 1944 for a Rottenführer, which I assume means that he was a Rottenführer in the Waffen-SS when he got killed? Question is though, what uniform is he wearing in the photograph? Is that a Deutsche Reichsbahn uniform?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.... Cheers, Torsten.
