Amrelband "Afrika" Award Document Question

not much to these docs really, just a standard ARMY version of the certificate. The Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine were different designs, and there were also a few unusual varities produced.
Issued in 1944 like most of them were. Their issuance was generally delayed a couple of years due to administration delays and the fact that Panzer Armee Afrika capitulated thus creating a mountain of paperwork and all sorts of chaos to sort out.
This cert is issued from the soldiers artillery reserve training unit, rather than a front line unit.
This unit is not necessarily the unit he was with in Afrika, just the current unit at the time of award.
So we can roughly assume this soldier was a light artillery man in Afrika. Without further research that is all you will ever know.
You always need to be UBER careful with fake citations ,but from the pics, it looks like a good original example, prob. worth approx. US$175-250.Last edited by milcollector; 02-06-2007, 08:33 PM.

The stamp appears to be that of Artillerie Ersatz regiment 23, the signature that of an Oberst Reinke.
Luckily the Lexikon lists which artillery units Art.Ers.abt.75 supplied men too, a couple of which had connections to Africa, it's likely your man was with one of these.
