I do not collect this type of item so I`m clueless as to what it is other than some form of passport or such. Can anyone give me some info on it and possible value?

Basic travel doc, unless it's to a RK holder, or somebody you really like, probably not more than $10.00.
Edit: side note, it had a 1942 expiration.

Yes, as Hank said...it is a 3rd Reich era passport. As you can see, the man had traveled to Canada

Yours is in top condition, and I have seen the like go in the $20-$30 range retail. Price always depends on how much someone "has to have it"
