If memory serves me correctly this is Oblt. Rudolf Donth.
Don't have any info to hand at the moment but Denis might follow up with some....

I think your right with the name Rudolf Donth as it looks similar to the autograph on the pic. Looking forward to hearing more info on him.

Giday everyone,

Rudolf Donth was a paratrooper. He was awarded the Knight's Cross for his part in the defence of Monte Cassino.

Rudolf Donth RKT

Hi Phil, I have a little info on Oberleutnant Rudolf Donth for you. Born 16-02-1920 in Schreiberhau/Schlesien, he entered the Luftwaffe on 01-10-1939 in a construction Battalion before Fallschirmjager training commencing on 12-07-1940. Was awarded the Ritterkreuz on 14-01-1945 as a Feldwebel in the 6th Company, Fallschirm Jager Regiment 4, 1 Fallschirmjager Division. Numerous other awards including the tank destruction strip, "KRETA" cuffband and German Cross in Gold. Interestingly, he also had a very successfull career in the postwar Bundeswehr, reaching the rank of Oberstleutnant. I hope to of been of some help.
