It looks to me like Hptm.Franz von Werra.
Born on 13 July 1914.
As Adjutant II/JG3 he became a British POW after being shot down on 5 September 1940.He is widely known as the 'One that got away' having escaped from a train transporting German POW's to a Camp in Canada, and eventually making his way back to Germany where he became Kommandeur I/JG53.
He was killed on 25 October 1941.
Hope this helps

Hi Mike,
Thankyou for the info on this photo.
I find it very ironic as I only watched an old black and white film based on him a little over a week ago.
I guess there would not be too many original private photos of based on the fact he was killed so early in the war.
Now I know who he is and once again Thankyou Mike.
P.S If anyone else knows of any other info about him please let me know as it would be much appreciated.

Franz Von Werra RKT
Hi, a very good source of information on Franz Von Werra (unfortunately with no photographs) is the book "The One That Got Away" by Kendall Burt and James Leasor, published by House of Stratus. Well worth reading, I hope to of been of some help.
Regards Richard.Always looking for Luftwaffe Kampfflieger related document groups. In particular anything to Kampfgeschwader 2.
