      Hi,

it seems that they are from stab II/JG53. Could you enlarge the plane in background please? I think it is marked with single chewron and number.

      Regards

For those interested in JG 53, here is its huge 3-volume unit history:

        Prien, Jochen. Chronik des JG-53 “Pik-As”. Teil 1 (privately published, c 1989).
        [ " ]. “Pik-As”: Geschichte des Jagdgeschwaders 53. Teile 2 and 3 (Eutin, 1990-91).

It runs to 1,721 pages and is heavily illustrated with hundreds of photos similar to the one above. It could well be that the veteran mentioned by "tobau" contributed some of his photos for the unit history by Dr. Prien.

          Pik As Maltzahn

This is the back of the ME 109 from Günther von Maltzahn, Geschwaderkommodore of JG53. My Grandfather was in III/JG53, the picture was taken in 1942, 50 shot-downs.
