Information on Waffen ss surender at Reit Im Winkl, Bayern

Can anyone confirm that the Nibelungen division surrendered at Reit Im Winkl.As i had call from a veteran friend of my fathers who said he was a translator attached to the 101st US cavalry and negotiated the surrender with an Waffen SS officer but can't remember what division it was.All he can remember is that he had a cuff title, it's just that he is writing his memoirs.
