    Original photos of Hitler

Hello, just wondering what original photos of Hitler are going for these days and where I could find some. Thanks!

A lot depends on where and when and what he is doing.. Candid shots taken by the public go for more than say promo shots taken by a professional.. as an example I have photos taken at a rally by someone in the crowd near the podium where he spoke... nice and clear cost me $150 for 3 of them. On the other hand I picked up some promo photos (press) for 10 each...

where do you find them? right here of course

      Photos of Hitler - Postcards!

I think the very best source of period photos are original postcards! While I'm an advanced militaria collector, postcards are what I've collected most avidly. There is no better documentation of the political and social history of the Third Reich than what is found in the postcards of the era. With respect to Hitler, there are literally thousands of different cards. The prices do vary depending upon scarcity, condition, and postal usage, but a typical black & white card goes for ~$25. Color cards are ~$50 and up. Sometimes good deals can be had, but always buy cards that are undamaged and original. While some reproductions exist, I've never seen any that were convincing to the trained eye.

        Smiling Hitler

Speaking of Hitler photo postcards, this is the only one I've ever seen with a front on smiling Hitler. It's Heinrich Hoffmann series number M2 issued for the 1940 Mussolini state visit to Germany. That's Franz Ritter von Epp shaking hands with Benito.

          Smiling Hitler

And if you look at his bad front tooth - you can see WHY this is the only such card! LOL...

            Eyes that follow you!

Here's an approx 8" x 10" original Heinrich Hoffmann photo of Hitler that I recently acquired. It's the image used on the dust jacket of the most common versions of Mein Kampf. One thing I hadn't realized until now - his eyes follow you no matter from what angle you are looking at him
