Info on these Death Card soldiers

Hi,

I just found these at the back of my cabinet (forgotten for a while). I wonder if any of the German members here, or just anyone who can read Germanic script could help me translate these cards.

Also if anyone has any info on any of these guys I would be most greatful.

WW1 Death Card, It reads peculiarly to me becuase I didn't know they issued the RK in WW1?



The other 3 cards are WW2, one SS one luftwaffe and one Army. I bought these so long ago and have never got around to researching them (and when I did, I can't navigate the German record/war graves commision website).

I believe the meaning of the WW1 card is sorta "He is a member of the holders of the Iron Cross".

Generally speaking, all death cards read "In loving memory of our son/father/brother who died at a young age, for the fatherland, far too young" and then it'll list his awards, and roughly the area where he was killed.

Brilliant thanks Hank. I have a lot of trouble with the germanic script, I can never tell the difference between half the letters.

These card seemed interesting to me when I bought them. I seem to remember they were only about ******163;2-5 each.

Thanks again for the info, I thought it was odd to have a WW1 RK holder (seeing as I don't think it existed then).

Why most vets in Germany fought both in WWI and WWII. Look at Rommel he got the PLM and RK w/ diamonds.

But my guy was killed on 30th October 1914. So he couldn't have got an RK in WW2.

And looks like he was killed in Northern France.

Update

Hi,

Just got some interesting information on Josef Schwabenberer, he was a feldwebel/Oberfeldwebel (2 different sources) with 2./GR 426 (Anyone know what unit this is please?) and I believe he won his RK on 10th September 1943.
