I contacted the seller and told him the signature was a fake. I offered to send him some pics of original ones. He sent me a 2 word reply back.

And I would guess that the reply was not "thank you."

Maybe the two words were "Well Spotted"?

A comment can be added to an ebay listing. All you have to do is bid, then retract the bid and give the reason for retraction; ie: this is the worst fake Hitler signature I have ever seen.

The seller has modified his listing to add this:

"As I do not have a written appraisal, I am selling as attributed to. I can provide the name of the of the antique dealer who took it to an autograph expert and sold on behalf of the library in Groveland. Please do your own research."

With the books value more like a couple hundred, the loss is even worse.

I just sent the "winning" bidder an email letting him know that he just paid $1500 for a $300 book. Maybe he will fight it, at least we tried!

Best wishes for a Merry Christmas to all, and may we spot ALL the fakes in 2007!

Did anyone notice that this book has a special dedication ? It says after Ostmark: ", des Sudetenlandes, des boemisch-maerischen Raumes und des Memellandes." Standard is only "und des Sudetenlandes."
