    Hitler's Photo Album

I was watching "Band Of Brothers" recently and towards the end there is the seen where everyone is looting Hitlers home and the one fellow (don't remember his name) scored Hitler's photo album. At the end they state that the fellow died in an auto accident in 1958. My question is where did they album go or does the family still have it or did it go through a series of owners?

I'm not so sure. I read a few months ago "Beyond Band of Brother's" co-authored by Maj. Dick Winters. The incident did happen as the book was written as a biography.

I loaned the book to a friend to read so I don't remember the name exactly but was it "Shifty"? And he did pass in an automobile accident. What happened to the album is anybody's guess.

That would be interesting to find out though. Good observation.

I think they called him "Shifty" Powers.

I am pretty sure sure "shifty" Powers is still alive. so he couldn;t have been the one in question. Besides he was from W. Virginia or Kentucky while the fellow who did get the album lived if I remeber somewheres like Dakota, Wyoming..

Thanks for responding guys, we will find that photo album.
Shifty powers was from around Norfolk, Virginia and was alive last I heard. The fellow who took the album was Alton Moore of Wyoming and he died in 1958 in an auto accident. Where is the album someone out there has it . Keep looking guys someone knows

I thought I read that the album was found about 10 years ago and resides in the West Point museum?---I could be mistaken.

I guess I could be wrong with the name. The book is loaned out to a friend to read so I can't refer back to it at this moment.

                    Hitlers Album

This is a great story so I decided to follow up with the West Point thing. I called the museum at West Point and they do not have any such album in their inventory nor have they heard of one.

One did exist and I held it in my hands

I sold earlier this year a Berchtesgaden-captured photo album full of original Hitler (and other) photos. It was not liberated by a 101st AB member, however. Just a normal infantryman. (not that a 101st AB could not have gotten one as well...)

                              Hitlers albums

The US archives at College Park Maryland has a set of the Adolf Hitler/Eva Braun photo albums. I do not know the source but I would not be surprised if it was the 101st guys. Most of the good Hitler items in collections and on the market came through the 101st originally - and that's definately NOT fiction Max.
