Identification of an officer : DKG and Ehrenblattspange

Hello to all,

I try to identify the officer of the Heer in the center of the photo. It is about a Major holder of the DKG and of the Ehrenblattspange des Heeres.

The photo was taken in the Andrijevica's / Berane sector (Montenegro) during the operation "Draufgänger" in July, 1944. The other people (Waffen - SS) belong to the division "Skanderbeg".

The unities of the Heer present in the sector belong mainly : Pz. AOK 2 , 297. Inf. Div., 181. Inf. Div.

is the guy on the officers left a croatian, usache or other axis soldier? his uniform doesnt look like SS to me

All the others are from the SS-Div. "Skanderbeg" (It is sure) and the photo was taken close to the Schmidhuber's PC. Windjacke and tropical Feldmütze are tipical in this division for german personel coming from the "Prinz Eugen".

Beautiful and interesting picture !!

If this Major was awarded with both decorations while he was serving a unit from 181.Inf.-Div. or 297.Inf.-Div. and was an infantry, there is a candidate.
Franz Eckert was listed on Ehrenblatt dated 25. May 1942 as Oberleutnant of 8.Komapnie/Inf.-Rgt. 524 of 297.ID., and awarded with DKiG dated 29. August 1942 as Hauptmann of II.Bataillon/IR 524.
