KM docs signed by Dönitz and Hitler

    Hi all,

last week I came into possession of these four KM related documents that came from an estate clearance in Germany.
Two of the documents are in binders with an embossed eagle on them. One is signed by D******246;nitz and one has (probably a facsimile) Hitlers autograph on it.
It looks like they are promotion documents, one for him being promoted to Marineoberbaurat.
My question is, has anybody ever heard of this man and seen/own similar documents? As well as the almost standard question, what could something like this be worth?
I would appreciate any help one might give me on these documents.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi Ben, nice documents. These promotion documents are relatively common. Maybe not so much as EK2s or Wound docs, but they can be found.
Never heard of your guy here, if he was an "Oberbaurat" it sounds like a civil service kind of position.
Price is real subjective on these, but I'd ballpark them between $75 to $150 each, depending how bad somebody wanted them. The Hitler is likely to be facsimile, and Doenitz isn't particularly rare.
Keep in mind last time I guess-timated a value, I was too low according to a couple of others on the forum.

          best,
          Hank

            Hi Hank,

thank you very much for your reply.
Really didn't know what I was dealing with here but they looked very impressive (and important ) with the maps and so on, so I went ahead and bought them although for a bit more than you estimated them . At least they look very cool.
Once again, thank you very much for your assistance and your help.

The man was a naval official, in this case a technical official. He would have worn naval uniform with the distinctive insignia of his branch. The rank of Marineoberbaurat equates to that of Fregattenkapitän (Lt.Col.) so quite high up the food chain.
The Marineoberbaurat promotion doc includes Raeder's signature which i think you'll find is hand signed. It's interesting to note that he signed it just a week or so prior to him stepping down as head of the KM.

These documents should never be valued individually as they come as a total group. Having said that, I believe Hank has been somewhat conservative and it sounds as if your purchase price was nearer their true value. Dönitz is common as post-war, but not so common pre-1945. Raeder is more common pre-1945, but rarer post-war.

Thank you all for all the comments so far.

Here are a few better pictures as well as a picture of a document that was accompanying the January 1943 Bef******246;rderung, it says that he had something to do with either the building of U-boats or with their bunkers (I guess).
                    Please enjoy.
