I was asking the same question in the research thread...
I have three pictures that show the same general (I am pretty sure), with some Bulgarian Officers. Another member believes him to be General Hans Leyser - commander of the 29th Mot. Infantry Division. If this is correct, this should narrow your search down.
The 29th Division was surrounded and destroyed at Stalingrad, and Leyser was the commander at the time. The year should be 1942 as he took over command in November. Not a lucky draw.
Well, then! That means I am wrong, but not totally!
It is General Ernst Ulrich Hans von Leyser! Commander of the 269th Infantry Division. AND that is who is depicted in my photo as well - it seems.
269th was part of the XXXXI Motorized commanded by General der Panzertruppe Reinhard. Which in turn was a component of the 4th Panzerguppe of Generaloberst Erich Hoepner.
I think I have it! SEE NEXT POST! CORRECTION! Hauptmann Gerhard Pick was too young to have the EKII Spange - being born in 1910.
I hope this is it! He looks a little tired and worn in your pictures, but this ceremony was at the front.

Simply a picture taken later! He is not wearing the wound badge in yours as well, nor does he have a visor cap! As I said before, he looks worn and tired and his uniform looks a little dirty in your photo. The last pic you show is a more formal picture and probably taken during rest behind the front...just a guess on this.
Compunding mistakes..... I misidentified your pic with two generals and bulgarian officers walking in the snow as Hans v Leyser and Lenski because earlier on I misindentified a pic of Ernst v Leyser and Lindemann (Gr North, 269 Div) as Hans v Leyser and Badinski (Gr South, 29 Mot Div). Your pic is for sure Ernst and so what I thought was Lenski could only be Fabrice Falk. Well done, Harmel.
Now we just have a confirmed pic of Kuebler-Ernst v Leyser-Eglseer. See other forum. We finally have a number of decent sightings of Ernst.
