    Here is a recent arrival. Two SdKfz.s that appear to be about to pull a disabled Panzer. This photo was said to be taken in Poland.

    Can anyone identify the unit using the emblem on the front fender? It may be a fairly common symbol, but I'm afraid I am a novice at symbols.

    I really like this picture.

      Hi Kevin,

      Great pics! Thanks for sharing them.

      Your symbol is for a motorized Infantry Gun Company. The "4" may be for Fourth Company but I'm not sure.

          yes Kevin great pics! Yes I would think it is Poland as after Poland the white balken kruse was discontinued. All the best. Mike

            Thank you, Mike. I knew the white cross was used early war, but did not realize it was only during the campaign in Poland. Very helpful information!
            I see that I need to get serious about studying my unit/campaign vehicle markings!

              Hi Kevin,

              Mike is correct about the white cross. The Germans soon realized that they made good targets to aim at by Polish anti-tankers so they were discontinued.

              Here's a good site for German organizational markings and symbols.

                  sIG33 auf Pz I

                  The vehicle has a Notek convoy light. It wasn't installed on these SPG in 1940.
                  It also has a support for a protective canvas on the back, used only by 703 sIG Kp/2 Pz Div in Greece and by 701 sIG Kp/9 Pz Div in the Balkans and Russia.
                  The spare wheels hanged on the frontal armour are distinctive of 701 sIG Kp/9 Pz Div. when in Russia. 1941 onwards. It's a relatively common photo, but best than the images of it on eBay.

                  Akira Takiguchi wrote on #61 "An Sd.Kfz.10 from s.I.G.Kp.704 - the trailer carries 15cm ammunition."
                  The vehicle hasn't any marking visible, so I assume it has a text on the back, or, far best, Akira has obtained an album of that unit, perhaps with some vehicles like the one Mauser44 put on the quoted post.
