Hi,

I would be extremely grateful if someone could assist me with the following queries. I have a small piece of paper dated 30.3.45, from Feldlazarett 134 (Az 50) Feldpostnummer 43 697, informing an SD unit of one of their SD guys death. I would therefore like to know;

a) Was Feldlazarett 134 a Wehrmacht or SS field hospital?
b) Where was Feldlazarett 134 located at this time?
c) The date of the SD guys death was 23.3.45. Were there any major battles or skirmishes around this area at this time (and who with), which could possibly have led to him being killed?

The unit the SD guy belonged to was the SS Wacheinheit Lebrechtsdorf.

Giving the name of the "guy" would make it possible to search German sources. The Volksbund often has the Fieldlazarett or area as place of death.

Sure. The man in question is SS-Mann Adam MARKULAK, born 27.4.07 in Daviden, Buchenland. Joined SS-Wacheinheit Lebrechtsdorf Oct 44. Signed out a MPi on 21.3.45 and died in Feldlazarett 134 at 1810 on 23.3.45. Looks like he wasn't in action long before being hit, that's assuming he was in action and not injured as a result of an accident.

I'm sorry to say but he's not on the Volksbund list. Which means he's probably one of the 1 milion that has to be put on the online list yet.
