The "Gauwettkampf" was part of the Reichsberufswettkampf which was held on three levels with Gauwettkampf being the middle one. (The lower being Ortswettkampf and the higher being Reichswettkampf).

The Reichsberufswettkampf was a centralized competition from 1934 to 1939 for the youth training in/for qualified jobs. (Later on there were branches for students, too.)

Hans Wahl was competing in the branch "Bau", meaning construction/building.

        Hope this helps a bit!

[Edit: Replaced the incorrect "the higher being Gauwettkampf" with the correct "the higher being Reichswettkampf"]

If i can be a pendantic pain in the butt for a second. The title of the thread mentioned a Narvik Doc. The unofficial Gruppe Feurstein doc relates to the battlegroup made up largely of 2 Geb.Div. units that fought it's way from Trondheim northwards getting about as far as Fauske/Bodoe by the end of the conflict, a couple of hundred miles short of Dietl's beleagured men at Narvik. It was from this gruppe that a lightly equipped battlegroup of picked men set off on a forced march across trackless mountains and wilderness (operation 'Buffel') in order to try and reinforce Dietl as quickly as possible though the Norwegians had capitulated by the time they reached the combat area. So it's not really a Narvik related doc.

BTW, what's the stamp? I can make out the 13 but can't read the last number and what's the number at the start?

The National Trades compitition was held at three levels the lowest one being the Kreis, the winner of each individual trade was named KREISSEGER and recieved a certificate with the badge printed on the front and inside a picture of Hitler and the winners details, along with a bronze(left in pic below) and enamel badge. They were then entitled to enter the next level - GAU, and then if a winner again in their chosen trade recieved this time silver badges and a certificate like the one shown here. Then on to the REICH competition. The national trade winners were presented with their gold cased badges and beautiful hand made docs by Hitler himself. There was also a Gau level compitition in 1944, the winners being presented with silver badges made of zinc and painted rather than enameled.

Serves me right for referencing Wikipedia because I couldn't remember how the lowest level was named.

                  Thanks for the correction, Colin!

No worries, as I read through my first answer though I maybe should point out that Hitler did not himself hand make the documents for Reichssieger, he just presented them
I'm sure he would have done a good job if he tried .
