Ahhh ... So that's where that photo went. This shows SS-Totenkopf-Standarte "Oberbayern", winter 1938/1939. I forgot to bid on it back then.

Yes, I am always amazed at the things that slip through the censors at eBay.de. If an American, on the American eBay site tried to post an SS picture...his listing would be cancelled, and his membership threatened with suspension.....in the land "of the Free"

In a few minutes I'll post another wonderful SS picture of a fellow being awarded the RK. Please let me know if you have any idea who he might be?
Maybe another that you once had you eye on?

Hallo John,

As identified by Mr. Miller; it indeed is Knittel (RKT from LSSAH) in the other thread. But I may have to dissapoint you, I hope not of course, but that is not a Privatfoto like the one in this thread. It actually is a repro from famous PK-Serie made during the award-ceremony, sold many times now on ebay.

Your "Oberbayern" Foto comes from a large lot that became split up into a hundred pieces, but yours was maybe the best of them all.

I was wondering a little about the RK foto. It has a very light Leonar paper marking of the back, but just barely visable. Normally the paper markings are much easier to read.

Thanks again for the info. I did "google" the guys name after Mike identified him....wow...he did have some history at the closing days of the war.
