Help asked with SS death notice.

Hello all,

This is the death notice of SS-Untersturmführer (Leutnant) Rupert Mittermaier, died on 10-11-1944 somewhere in Italy.
On the picture he still seems a Hauptscharführer to me, but on the card he is called a Leutnant, so I guess he made it to Untersturmführer.
Rupert was holder of the EK1 + EK2, I suggest the East campaign medal, at least the Wound Badge in black, and...?

Anyone with a Dienstalterliste who can tell me which decorations Rupert had earned before he left the circus?

Many soldiers were promoted postumously which are reflected on Death Cards. So there is a chance you may not find what you are looking for. All the best in your search.

Hi Scott,

I know it is a small chance.
But I am very curious what is beneath the EK1 on his chest.
It does not look like a 'normal' GAB or something like that to me.

So I hope someone with a Dienstalterliste, or with better eyes then me has some information for me.

It also passed my mind, but wasn't it against regulations to wear two of those?
I thought you were allowed to wear just the highest grade awarded?
