    MG-Btl 10 => one for Akira

    Hello Akira,

I managed to fix my scanner more or less and as promised here is the picture from the MG-Btl.10 Photoalbum I snatched up a few months earlyer and on the back off the vehicle there is a unit sign ( hopefully it is clear enough from my louzy scan => It is a shieldform )

    Can you ID it ?

The picture is dated : September 1941 , Strasse im Russland

    Cordial Greetings,

    the tactical sign

    Hello,

Since my picture quality is really bad I have made a drawning from the tactical sign => mayby someone does recognize it ? , It is exactly as drawn ( and the colours appear to be black and white . )

Wow super! I think it has never been reported. Not even in the unknown list of Schmitz/Thies probably? (well I have to check again)

        Insignia

        Hello,

It would be really something if this could be true => that would mean that we have found finally ( lets hope so ) the unit sign of the Mg-Btl. 10

Keep me informed Akira if you can track it down

          Hi Stijn,

How is the album ID'd to MG-Btl.10?

          Regards,

          Rick

Well, actually I did it (so it's not Stijn's fault if it is not)

It was an album offered on ebay. It included many pictures of Cholm. Stijn found it although there was not a single word that suggests Cholm... Only the doomed can do this!

He directed me to the album, and I found a PKW with a tactical marking of a M.G.-Btl. with the number 10. And the Cholm pictures. So my guess was M.G.-Btl.10. Because now Stijn has the album in his hands, I think he can find more information support it (place etc.).

              MG -Btl 10 : Identification

              Hello,

As Akira said I spotted the album and altough I could not ID the unit I was 100 % certain it was Cholm related ( and since I have it in my possesion im 100 % certain it is indeed from Cholm ) => it is luck that Im doomed as this way I can spot such things from miles away ( but I guess im not the only one )

I directed a pic. of the unit sign on a vehicle towards Akira and he said => Mg.Btl.10 , after I received it and the info that was in it it was 100 % positive that it belonged towards this unit ( all pictures are written on the back , etc .. )

                Hi Guys,

Very good detective work! I think you would both agree that this is part of what makes photo collecting so exciting. You never quite know what type of treasures you will be getting until you inspect each photo under a glass.

I bought a pretty boring looking album a few months ago. It was not until I got the album and looked at each photo in detail did I discover that the album was from a man in an anti-tank company of 164 Infanterie Division in the Balkans and Greece - right up until it was transferred to Afrika and redisignated the 164. Leichte Afrika Division. Many nice photos of vehicles with the divisional insignia. But that is another story and has nothing to do with MG Btl.10....

Stijn, post some more of them when you get a chance!

                Rick

A couple of similar markings (but without central vertical line; city Hanau) but no exact match. Yours looks like a new one.
