                    When I was a boy, a belgian veteran told me that his unit resisted at the Schipdonk Kanaal (the river pictured in this photo) because the belgian machine gunners were hidden in the canal embankment were there was a or more (concrete?) pipes of brooks that came from the meadows on the other side which were an excellent hiding place for the belgian soldiers because they were in the month of may covered with gras and green

                      Hi, the Schipdonkkanaal is not the 'Kanaal Gent-Terneuzen'. Below is a photo of the Schipdonkkanaal, it's much more narrow.
