    A.H. Godfather Document

    Greetings.

I have had this "PATURKUNDE" document for several years and believed the signature to have been manually signed by Hitler. Later, a gentleman who deals in documents said Hitler was Godfather to thousands of German babies and this signature was an autopen.

In the letter that accompanied the document to the parents, the writer said their daughter would be receiving RM 50 from the Führer. Yesterday I mailed a nice scan of the signature to a collector in Florida who has a document signed with the autopen and they are not even close to looking alike.

I have posted a scan of the douments for you experts to look at, and a scan of the signature. The Florida collector's signature showed even pressure of ink over the whole signature. My signature shows light spots and little ink hooks and a bubble or two. What do folks think? This is clearly not my area.

    Thanks for any help.

    Dan.

My gosh people. Don't eveyone jump at once! Since my last post of A.H.'s signature, I found an autopen done in 1943 in Gordon's Iron Cross book and they don't match.

My conclusion is as it has always has been, that the the signature was hand written.

Come on.....someone take some pot shots at that!

        Dan.

          Hitler Doc.

          Hi Dan,
Firstly, I am delighted by this document, as it is the first
time I've seen a Paterurkunde ...(Hitler as Godfather) document.
The nazis never cease to amaze me with the scope and breadth
of their interest in the activities of every citizen of the Reich.

          Secondly (the pot-shot),
The signature appears to be a very dark blue...way too blue for a
signature that was signed over 60 years ago...You know how
old ink fades to an almost ghostly color.
Also the "H" in the Hitler signature seems too wide when compared to signatures in the collector references I've checked....
          other than that......
Anyway, It's still a wonderful document that I would be proud to
          have in my collection.
          Best regards,
          Sincerely,
          Bob
