    Interesting protrait - your opinions

Here is an interesting portrait shot I have. It is a contact print of two soldiers, one with a fur cap (with Soutache!) the other with a darker green (or black? or blue???) overseas cap also with Soutache. The soldier on the right, in my opinion, does not look very German. The overcoat of the soldier on the left has no shoulderboards.
The reverse of the card reads Mai 1942 ? and ? Zusammentreffen in Stalino.

The foto to me is unusual. What do you think?

I'd say the man on the right is wearing a pink piped black panzer cap with the usual Feldgrau overcoat. The fact that Walter and Curd were having a reunion suggests both from the same hometown or something.

As for his looks, he's the spitting image, right down to the mustache, of the Polish man from next door when I was a kid.

          Hi Rick
          Hallo Kai-Steffen,

          ENDLICH! Someone replies! Great!

          nun, I don't think it reads Curd.....in Suetterlin it is C u r d s (an End S at the end).

Rick, yes, it could be a Black overseas cap. But the image itself is unusual and I agree that some Germans certainly don't look German - like these two gentlemen.

Too bad there are no last names, units listed ect.

And thank you for your opinions.

ah- yes- now i see- it reads "Walthers und Curds Zusammentreffen in Stalino" of course there are s at the end of both names- grammar !
            silly sütterlin
well, you know- not all germans are tall, blond and blue eyed, i think the mistake to think that has been done before
f.ex. my grandfather on my mothers side had black very curly hair and a dark skin color- and since he lived in baden- a french occupied territory- he was often mistaken for a french colonial soldier from northern africa pros and corntras for that

Klar – ich lived in Lörrach for ages – I know how it is. I am more interested in the odd uniforms – from me – the guys could come from Todtnau im Schwarzwald and look like that…and they way they talk – schwätzen – you would think it is a foreign language.
