I thought it would be interesting to show this pair of photographs. Look at the stark difference in the mans face between 1939 (left) and late 1943 (right). To me, he litterally looks 20 years older

Yes, war was indeed hell- on that man's face. Let's hope he survived it and had a peaceful postwar experience.

I'd say that's a Narvikschild rather than Demjansk.

And an Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe mostly hidden by his sleeve.
