    New grouping arrived

Hi all, just got a new grouping. Nothing overly rare or exciting, but some nice stuff that I got at a good price.
    I'll just attach the pix...

Unless it was nighttime, or the weather was bad, and you were running out of gas - then it was a sweaty nightmare, like a monkey f*ing a skunk.

And discharge document. There's also a couple of pre-war civilian type documents, as well as post war stuff into the '70s. All pretty mundane - insurance receipts, notes from the doctor he can't work anymore, etc.

                  That's it!

Seems like Fest.Art.Abt.1510 (at least it looks like 1510) might have been a stomach unit as your guy had been shot in the guts.

Tessin states it was formed in Sep.44 and was placed under the 19 Armee at Oberrhein, it then became part of Brigade 1005 a very adhoc formation made up of volkssturm, border guards, police and some heer units. On the 14th April '45 it was renamed III./Art.Rgt.352 in an effort to rebuild the shattered 352 VGD.

Thanks much for that info Simon. I believe the POW docs state when he was captured, and he was interred somewhere around Cherbourg.

Does his SB give details of his wound and how long he stayed in hospital?

Let's see, what I can figure out is he was in on 1 Apr 44, with "31b", Kriegslazarett (mot.) 1/626, krankenabt. II. Checked out on the 5th.

Then I see him going to Reserve-Lazarett IV, Abt. I, Warschau, on the 7th of April. Checked out on the 17th.

Then to Reserve Lazarett Boppard am Rhein on 20 Apr 44. 31b still. Check out on 10 June. Looks like A. O. (3 mo) VS-Truppe or something in the discharged from hospital column...

In September he was paid by the Gren. Ers.- und Ausb. Btl 80, Koblenz.

Closer look reveals it is 1519, not 1510...any difference?

thanks so much for all your work Simon! I appreciate all your help.
