Col Brunn 42nd Panzer Grenadier Regt

I picked up 13 photos and a letter from an American. The photos, showing a German award ceremony, appear to be war booty and the American wrote on the back his comments.

They identify the commander but I wasn't sure it the author was correct; the time and place the pictures were taken; or if any additional information is available on this commander and the regiment. I'm posting just a few for your review.

Hello Tony,
Nice pictures, thanks for sharing.
Based on the uniforms, I would say mid-war.

Strange that the commander is described as 'Killed' 5 days after
capture? Prehaps someone can check the KIA database.
