Just got this photo and watercolor painting of a mountain trooper . Photo per the watercolor date was taken 1942 in the small village of "NEU.TITSCHEIN " , I assume somewhere in Bavaria. Backside of photo has in black ink "Zur Erinnerung an unseren lieben Fraenzel " --and Feldpostnummer 12096 . Can anyone tell me which unit used this number and at what locatio in 1942 ??

12096 belonged to the III abteilung of Artillerie Regiment 116. The artillery unit of the 5 Panzer Division.
Does it actually say 'Feldpostnummer' or is there just a number? I notice the watercolour shows no edelweiss on his cap.

A bit of googling shows that Neu Titschein was in the Sudetenland, today in the Czech Republic and called Nov******253; Jic******237;n.Last edited by Simon O.; 01-21-2006, 01:25 PM.Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

It is written in black ink : " Feldpost Nr.12096 A " and the card is embossed with " ATELIER Weinerth NEU.TITSCHEIN " . THANKS for the location . I noticed also that the cap did not have the edelweiss --but from the green -jellowish color around piping of the shoulder boards and on the collar tabs in the watercolor , I assumed mtn trps. Bernd
