    Helmut Rüffer

Can anyone help me with this photo?
I guess his name is Helmut as stated on the backside, but what was he doing?
I.e. Can anyone tell me what it means the two stamps on the bacside?
One is on top of the other, but hopefully you will be able to read it. One of them are saying something like "Orstspolitzei......"

    Rolf,
I'll take a stab at this one. It appears that the purpose of the stamps on the back of the photo are to authenticate that the photo and signature are actually that of Helmut R******252;ffer. It was not unusual during the Third Reich to have the individual personally sign the back of a photo and have it authenticated before it was attached to an official document. The fact that there are two stamps on the back is also not unusual. It simply means that the photo was first stamped/authenticated when it was taken then later restamped/reauthenticated for another purpose. The second stamp is that of an Office Chief (Amtsvorsteher) acting as a local police official (Ortspolizeibeh******246;rde) in the named town.

Thank you for clearing this up for me.
The photo came together with a lot of many different photos and was the only one with a stamp on the backside. And as you understand, this is not my "page", since I am into vehicles....

      And Happy New Year
