    Part of the 73 Infanterie divsion Doug, at the time with the 17 Armee in the Kaukasus. If he remained with his unit, and survived through 1943 he would also have been entitled to the Kuban shield.

        Looks like that might be an RKT signature too Doug, although the 6 Kp. should be part of the II Btl. it would seem the regiment had been suffering some heavy casualties (hence a lowly oberleutnant leading a btl.) and that the structure of the regiment wasn't exactly as it should have been. Looks like it's signed by Eugen Selhorst who won the RK in October as an oberleutant whilst leading the I Btl.

              Yeah the guy was a medic NCO. Also, the absence of a unit stamp adds to the evidence that this regiment was going through some pretty rough times.

              Interestingly the regiment also spawned a swords winner. Werner Ziegler who picked up his oakleaves around the same time your man got wounded.
