Well, he's an infantry Major der Reserve:

ribbon bar of EK2 1914 with Spange, 1941/42 East Medal, and WW1 Hindenburg Cross X = not a regular officer.

Have you noticed the mutilated or still wounded officer? second from left behind the GJ officer. He is saluting with the left arm instead of the right.

Hello Rick:

How by the combination can you specifically tell he is a Reserveoffizer? If he had served through the Reichwehr - would he be at least an Oberst?

Hi Eric,

this guy has no Wehrmacht long service awards. So he had less than 4 years of active service. That can only be a reserve officer.
