    Hello Richard,

    Thanks for your remarks concerning the different type styles. I had neglected to mention that.

    My comments conerning Hess have to do with the fact that I can't find Hess in Hitler's proximity in 1938 publications highlighting the visit to Austria. He certainly had not fallen out by that time. Other than the tipped picture that is pasted, are there known Raumbilden of Hess in this title?

    I still would love for our mutual friend Ustufvorwaerts to post any of the Stereoscopic pictures of an edition of the Rebirth Raumbildalben.

      hi again.

      on the web there are a few sites,who are selling grossdeutschlands wiedergeburt,i have seen one offerd with 120 images,and there is a phote with the arrival of hess,so it must be the 120 version.

      do anybody know how manny 3 d albums have survived the war,or are on the market today.

        Hi everybody,

        as I´m not home during this week, I won´t be able to post any pics before the weekend. I apologize for that.

        Silven, as Ramon already wrote, many 3D-Albums have survived the war.
        But the total amount of them is not too big if you take into account that
        these books were rather expensive (starting at approx. 28 Reichsmark) !!!
        Even the Geschenkausgabe of "Mein Kampf" in leather wasn´t that expensive !!!
        As far as I know 28 different Raumbildalben were published until 1945 (incl. the 2 versions of Grossdeutschlands Wiedergeburt).
        Some of them are rather scarce: for example NS-Musterbetriebe Volume 3 had a total edition of 7.000 pieces !!!
        Nobody knows how many of them survived the war.

          As promised here the 2 pics with Hess - No. 52 and 55.
          Surprisingly, Hess is in both editions of my albums - the 100 pic version and the 120 pic version

              As there are a multitude of albums floating around that are incomplete, I would not think it impossible that someone just filled some holes in one of albums ustufvoraerts now has and did it with some Hess pics they located. This could be one explanation.

                Boy, am I red faced! I rechecked my albums and found both raumbild that Ustufvorwaerts posted above.

                I must be blind as a bat. As are all Sch******246;nstein albums I have ever seen, they are clearly printed with the name of the album they are a part of. So there should be no doubt as to which set they belong.

                Again, thanks to Ustufvorwaerts for going to the trouble of scanning and posting the pics. Thanks much!!!!

                  Sorry Ramon, I guess my reply was poorly worded. What I meant was there are, for example, 2 distinct War in the West editions. One has the pictures of a General (can't remember which and as I am not at home right now, I cannot check but I think it was von Rundstedt) on two of the stereoviews. The later edition has some generic Heer shots that replaced the Generals pictures when he "fell from grace". If someone obtained the later volume with the two generic shots missing and managed to get some shots from the earlier edition as replacements, they would still have the name of the album on the rear but would be incorrect replacements for that edition. I am thinking that the same may have happened in the 2 Raumbild Albums with the Hess pictures. Though they are distinctly from the Grossdeutschland's Wiedergeburt album, the Hess stereoviews may have been found loose and used to fill in the missing parts of a later edition of the same album. I think that each edition had unique numbers in very small print at the lower right or left corner on the stereoviews. The numbers for an edition should be the same on all the stereoviews as I recall (I'll have to check this when I get home). If the numbers of the Hess stereoviews are different than the majority of the remaining stereoviews, they may be replacements from an earlier edition. Sometimes when missing stereoviews are replaced with shots from other editions of the same volume, you can notice a difference in the shade or darkness of the printing on the rear as when you compare the replaced ones with the ones that were original to the album.

                    doesn´t work in that case. Both "Grossdeutschlands Wiedergeburt" albums I possess (100 and 120 pics) have all pics listed and described (like on the back of the pics itself) on the last 2 pages of the album.
                    Both descriptions are the same for these 2 pics !!!
                    My catalogue (Koeberich) instead clearly says 100pic-version with and 120pic-version without Hess.

                          As was noted in an earlier post above, among the Raumbildalben, War in the West is relatively easy to find when compared to its companion album and is positively common when compared to many of the other titles.
                          'Scarce' and 'rare' are words that lose some of their meaning when used loosely. I wish you sincere good luck with the auction.

                            you are right, these are relative terms to use, when compared to scarcer and rarer items, but that does still not make a common book..any Raumbild Album is scarce and rare, but of course some are scarcer and rarer than others...Cheers, Torsten.

                              actually, I also have the 120 pic version of Grossdeutschlands Wiedergeburt, complete with all the pics etc, but it does not have the viewer...I assume that the viewer would have been exactly the same with all Schoenstein Raumbild Albums? Does anyone know of a viewer only for sale anywhere or does anyone have a spare viewer??? Cheers, Torsten.

                                The Brill is offered with great regularity on eBay.de under the catagory of Stereoskopie. They average about 30-40 Euros.
