3rd reich Postcards of personalities question

    hello All,

maybe a stupid question so please dont shot me but I would like to know from where the postcards with photos of important personalities arise in Germany?, I ask this because almost all the important figures of third reich apears in these kind of postcards, NSDAP important members,SS,etc. besides of the RK winners and a lot of them used to send his signature to friends. was a tradition that came of World War I? or just was used to propaganda aims

Postcards of the personalities of a period have been about for the past 100+ years.

The Imperial period of German was certainly no exception. The period following WW I merely took it to a new level.

The advent of improved communications involving radio, the strong presence of newspapers and magazines coupled with the dynamic energy of the National Socialists efforts to shape popular opinion made postcards very popular items.

But it isn't only the NS that did this. All parties in German politics used all manner of means to convey their messages. Beyond the German borders, you can collect such cards from the early days of the Soviet Union. Both Lenin and Stalin's efforts at building their cults of personality used all manner of media to take their message to the people.

    Nothing new.
