    Dietl on Elk hunt 1943

    Hello,

I know of a photo album that I might buy. It's regarding an "Elch Jagd" in Finland 22-24 october 1943. The album has printed drawings and photos that tells about the event.

    Anyone knows of this hunting?
What signature can it be on the first page?

I post some pictures that I took. Yes, the light was very bad.
I offered him 100 EUR for it. Was it too high?

    Cheers, Stefan

The album was given to one of the Finns that was at the hunting.

Who is the man that shake hands with Dietl?

          Hej Stefan:
I am not really competent to judge the value of photos or albums other than soft skin vehicles but I would think the subject matter is rather unusual if not even unique which might add value to the album.

Actually, my real reason for posting was to make an editorial comment that this was pretty "soft duty" for a German General in October 1943.
Many of his fellow Generals must have not had it so good at the time.

          Regards
          Bill

And moose hunting season is the same today. Are they the only photos of Dietl in the album?

There are not many photos at all - perhaps only 5-6 pages and only these ones above with Dietl.
The photos are not 100% sharp so I guess that this book was made into several copies.

              /Stefan

                Sa Ja Stefan:
Possibly not so valuable as I might have thought.
During the two years I lived in Sweden, out of a 25 year career split between Volvo and SAAB, I always thought Elk hunting was a blood sport mainly undertaken with passenger cars and lastbilar.

I never had the experience, but my wife did hit a 100+ kilo pig in Lima, Peru with her VW 1300 when I was stationed there with Volvo. The pig did not survive but the VW was also very badly damaged. No Elk in Peru but a hell of a lot of both wild and domesticated pigs that roamed all over the roads.

Not much to do with the Elk Hunt, just a little extra story.

                Cheers
                Bill

That does seem a high price Stefan, i guess the rest are just hunting photos of civillians?

Yes, some of children, some of the woods and 6-7 drawings. I thought that the unknown man could have something to do with the Luftwaffe car - that might raise the price a bit.

But I think I will give him a call tomorrow and lower the price :-)

                    Thanks for your answer Bill

                    Cheers, Stefan
