    Hi Doug,

Johann Pohl was a member of the 3rd battalion of the 75th Artillerieregiment, which was part of the 6th Panzerdivision. In march 1942 this division was in Charkow as a part of the 6th Armee (Heeresgruppe Süd).

As the guy has a low rank and this is a document for a less important award, I don't think you will find anything specific on this man.

Was this the kind of info you were looking for?

Is he in the on-line memorial as a Stalingrad casualty?
I don't have the link anymore.

At least 7 Johann Pohls died in 1942 and many more in later years, I don't think we can ever find out ... (unless the Stalingrad list also mentions the casualty's unit?)

It was actually part of 3 Panzer Division, 6 Armee, Heeresgruppe S******252;d around Charkow.

Interestingly the document appears to be signed by Major Sch******246;ne of Artillerie Bataillon Sch******246;ne! As an Oberst, Volkmar Sch******246;ne commanded 3 Panzer Division and won the German Cross in Silver (that's if it is the same person however!?!?!?).
Also the stamp appears to be Artillerie Regiment 818, III. Abteilung!? This unit was equipped with heavy field howitzers and during 1942 was under 2 Armee (Heeresgruppe H) at the bend on the River Don.

            /Ian

Yes, thanks for the correction, I had mixed up with the 6th Armee.

One other thing that crossed my mind; in february 1942 this regiment was renamed "Panzer Artillerie Regiment 75" - is it normal that the old "Artillerie Regiment 75" name was still used?
