                  They both feature in "The Iron Time" By previtera (see the last chapter) but Schroter was a 23 year old commander of U-123, he eventually took out the XXI model U-2506 but the war ended soon after. He eventually became flotilla admiral in the bundesmarine.

                  Kemnade was also in the kriegsmarine with the e-boats I think. Serving later with the bundesmarine.

                          I would say that roughly the number of RKT still living is between 900 and 1,000 (because many dates of death are still uknown).

                            I have never thought of these individuals in post war settings before

                            Neat thread. These pics have somewhat of a surreal effect when I look at them; hard to explain what I mean. It is almost as if they are "out of place" somehow being post-war, in civilian attire, and not in the company of Hitler.

                              Great thread. Gran Sasso,I love the pictures of Ernst Barkmann. Steven, your right. They do look very out of place, sitting on some "modern" folding chairs.
