It is not allowed to wear the german awards, even in the 1957 version, in the austrian army. The austrian Army doesn't want to be connected with the Wehrmacht in any way.
For example every Officers course at the Military Academy has its own name, which is in honor of brave Soldiers, units or other important aspects of the austrian history.
Our course wanted to choose the name Hoch und Deutschmeister, which was a well known regiment of the kuk Monarchy.
The name was forbidden, because of the fact, that the 44ID of the Wehrmacht had the same name.

Here my little contribution to that nice thread
Paul Behr who won his rk on 3/28/1945 in the 26th infantry division as an hauptmann. Here a picture of him in the 80. He is wearing an early 1957 cross, but its interesting to note that he is still wearing his 1939-1945 uniform and that he remove the eagle from it. He is also wearing his pre 45 badge (infantry assault badge and wound badge). I don't know if he is still alive though.Attached Files

Another RKT in post-war Bundes Luftwaffe uniform, this time a signed photo of Kampfflieger Ritterkreuztrager Franz Schlund, a member of the famous 'Helbig Flyers'.

Here an interesting lot I got from ebay. Paul egger, who won his rk on 29.04.1945. There is a picture of him in the 60 on a tank, another of him in 1942 near a plane and a signed picture of him taken the day he received his knight cross. It also come with a copy of his original knight cross doc.
