Sorry, Harmel, but I think von Briesen is out for photo #3- appears to have been taken in France (presumably 1940), and while v.B. was there in 1940, he lost a hand at Kutno in Poland in '39; this General appears to have two real hands (though I could be wrong- one of them might be prosthetic).

                Hi Mike!

I have to agree with Harmel about von Briesen. The left arm definately looks like a prosthetic.

                Best regards,

                  Hi all!

Picture #1 : General der Panzer Truppen Fritz-Hubert Graeser. (Picture probably taken in Italy)

                  Picture#2 : ?????

Picture#3 : General der Infanterie Kurt von Briesen. (Picture taken in France)

Picture#4 : Generaloberst Erwin Jaenecke. (Picture very likely taken in Crimea, near the Black Sea anyway.Otherwise what is the reason for the presence of the naval officer?).

                    Dear all,

Hereby a small update! First of all thanks a lot for the great reactions...these really make this Forum what it is intended for.

The news is that the lot - I do not have it yet at home - is tremendous: 5 photo albums (!!!) full of pictures and a lot of loose pictures!!!! Lots of generals and high officials and great field shots!! The entire lot presumably belonged to an Adjudant - probably named Major M******252;ller (who indeed served with General der Infanterie Kurt von Briesen) and probably later with General der Panzer Truppen Fritz-Hubert Graeser and Generaloberst Erwin Jaenecke!!!!(Thanks again for id-ing these!!!!). The original owner of the albums also was visiting Reichsminister Goebbels at a certain moment! Anyhow, was he in 'high placed company' during the Western campaign, Russia and Italy!!)

The lot in itself is a gold-mine of discoveries and will need a huge time to sort out...the man who I bought it from said it was indeed schocking! So wait and see....He already sent me some more pictures, which I will naturally post for everbodies pleasure.....

Some have great writing on the back and even have signatures (like the one shown which shows von Briesen)....

I will post more of this set in the near future! I do not collect General Officer related stuff so I might be also willing to trade/sell this set sometime.....so when there is a sincere interest please let me know....

                    Best regards,

                    Coco

                            Hi all!

I´d bet the general in picture #2 is Generaloberst Erwin Jaenecke as well. Even though his features are not clear, he wears the same decorations than the one on picture #4, the Spanienkreuz among others.

                            Regards.

Jaenecke served in Spain as chief of staff of the "Sonderstab W", therefore he can be the guy with the SK.

                              Best regards
