    colored photos?

Hello, I'm just into the photo collecting and want to add some colored photos to my TR collection.
So this could be a verry stupid question, but hey, I'm gonna ask it anyway...
Where can I buy ww2 photos in color? Or are they so rare?

    cheers

this would be a period hand coloured studio portrait photo. Cheers, Torsten.

yup, colored portraits are out there. But alot of them are very crudely done too! Torstens example is about the best as it gets for the time period. Keep in mind there are also agfa-color (and others) negatives, that are neat to collect. But good content ones are just as hard to find as hand colored portraits IMO.
For some reason the colorized portraits dont really fetch more money than b/w either....or at least I havent noticed it.

              Hi,

I have been collecting for about 8 to 9 years and have only come across one hand tinted professionally taken photograph (of an RAD Arbeitsmann) in that time frame.
I am certain that good quality colour photographs exist, but they are very much a "niche" market.
Have a good few "family" hand coloured pics, (my mother virtually destroyed the family WW1 photos using "special photographic paints") on the photos when she was pre-teen!
Professional photographers could usually do a decent job on B+W pictures, but an amateur hand usually destroys any value of "coloured" pics over the original B+W.
I have not noticed an appreciable monetary value in these ("good"} hand coloured pics either.
However, I have no doubt that original colour photographs from "Signal" magazine and other publications must have a good price on the market!

              Best wishes,

              John.

I have only personally owned 2 period color photographs from WWII and they were both in US serviceman albums printed by Kodak.
