"Search, then it will be found" photos from Pz.A.A.27

Recently our co-moderator here Robert Noss offered a nice group from A.A.7 on e-stand. With luck I was on the forum at the moment and acquired the group from him. I have two other groups from A.A.7 ( shown on my page ) and it looked like a nice addition to me.

An early photo of an Sd.Kfz.221 - crystal clear!

While sorting out the photos, I noticed the russian photos are not from A.A.7 - more specifically, Pz.A.A.27 - 17.Panzer-Division.

The sometimes rewarding but also boring reverse side checking procedure began... Then I found something like this:

This rang a big bell in my head! A few years back, I acquired a grouping from Pz.A.A.27 - it belonged to Gefreiter Hermann Michael. He took a lot of photos for the unit. There is a thank you letter from the divisional commander von Arnim about the great photos the general received.

The photos from Gefr. Michael was likewise number-stamped. Here is the list of photos he made.

            Hi Akira

Does the number on the reverse mean that the photo is a reprint or is it part of a numbered series taken by a regimental photographer and sold to the troops.

            Cheers
            Larry

                Hi Akira

Your next posts have answered my question.

                Cheers

I checked all the photos with numbers... And found out that there is no overwrap.

This suggests that they were originally from the same group (not 100% but probably!). Well, then, now I have much more photos from Pz.A.A.27 and they probably originated from the same man, I am again very happy!

Usual motto: search, then it will be found!

Hi Larry, yes, such photos were quite often simply numbered (with a sequence number or series number). Photos with XX/YY number (series/frame) are more likely to be a Bildberichter's copy.

Forgot to mention one thing... Photos from Robert shows 2.(Pz.Späh-)Kompanie, A.A.7. This company became 1.Kompanie, Aufklärungs-Abteilung 27 in October 1940 (renamed in Panzer-Aufklärungs-Abteilung 27 in November). I should have expected A.A.27 when I bought it!
