    Fake Rommel Picture?

Is it my eyes or does it appear that this picture has been created by blending different pictures together with a photoshop program? I see different degrees of clarity and lighting.

yea it does look odd. There seems to be no clear deliniation between Rommel and the other fella. The persons in the background appear to have been exposed differently than the foreground duo.

      Hi John,
It looks like a fake. Do you have "source" file (bigger size)? If yes could you please email it to me?

Absolutley it is ... look at the fellow on the far right facing way from the camera ... he's closer to the camera than the guy second from the right ... yet he is behind him in the picture

Also you can see the crappy join line between Rommel and the guy to his left.

          Darrell,
Let's just say that half of the picture is real! It makes me wonder why people are doing something like this.

Well at least they took a picture mixed with Italians and Germans

It does appear to be a composite but composition is not an art limited to postwar "fakers". Calling a composition a fake is sometimes misleading...

                e-bay?

That little "camera" in the right lower corner, does it sugest it is a photo sold on e-bay? If so, does it say "original"? I guess there is a bit money spent on photos, so someone might be a "entrepreneur" and make his living selling fake photos.... Just my thoughts...

From the number of post-war photos produced from the original negatives that continue to circulate on the market it would seem that some have done well judging from the prices collectors pay for them.

                    Fake Rommel Photo

                    Hi guys,

Yes this is something being sold on Ebay as original, I don't have anything more than what I posted here.

Akira I know what you mean about period touch-ups I think. I know they would erase unwanted obstructions in photos and perhaps add on awards that were earned after the picture was taken. I've also seen period pictures where they might blend in two seperate pictures of siblings or something like that. But do you think this one is period?
